Is Gold Right for Me? Questions to Consider

Only you can decide whether gold suits you. This guide sets out questions to think about — it is not advice. The value of gold can fall.

Gold has been used as a store of value for thousands of years. With so many options available today, it helps to think carefully about whether holding gold fits your circumstances.

Here are some points to consider. EONA does not give investment advice.

Reasons People Give for Buying Gold

People who buy gold often say:

  • They want to hold part of their savings in something other than money.
Gold doesn’t behave like stocks. It has sometimes held value during crashes, inflation or geopolitical uncertainty — but not always, and its price can fall.
  • They’re concerned about currency risk.
Gold isn’t issued by any government. Some people hold it alongside assets in a single currency — but its own price, in any currency, moves up and down.
  • They want diversification.
Gold has often moved differently from equities, bonds or real estate, but that relationship changes over time.
  • They value physical ownership.
With allocated gold, you own physical metal recorded against specific bars rather than a price-tracking product.

When Gold May Not Suit You

Gold may not suit you if:

  • You need a predictable return.
Gold’s price can move sharply in the short term and can fall for long periods.
  • You need income.
Gold doesn’t pay dividends or interest. There are also costs to buy, sell and store it.
  • You may need the money at short notice.
You can sell back to EONA, but you may receive less than you paid. EONA does not currently offer physical delivery.

Who Buys Allocated Gold?

  • Individuals holding part of their savings in physical metal
  • Entrepreneurs wanting assets outside their own business
  • Professionals buying gradually over time
  • Institutions and family offices holding physical assets alongside financial ones

With EONA, you can buy from 1 gram.

Allocated Gold vs Other Forms

Not all gold is created equal:

  • ETFs track the price through units in a fund, rather than specific bars
  • Bullion coins are retail products that often carry higher markups
  • Unallocated accounts give you a general claim on the provider

Allocated gold through EONA means physical metal recorded against specific bars, published pricing, and storage with Loomis in Dubai.

What if I’m still unsure?
Consider speaking to an independent financial adviser. Ask yourself: Could I afford to hold this metal if its price fell, and do I understand the costs of buying, storing and selling it?

If you are unsure, you don’t need to buy.

How much gold should I own?
EONA does not suggest amounts or give investment advice. Only buy what you can afford to hold through price falls.

Preguntas habituales

  • Gold has sometimes held its value during inflation, war or market downturns, but not consistently. Past performance is not a reliable guide to the future.
