Risk Disclosure

The main risks of buying precious metals through EONA, in plain language.

Last updated: 26 September 2026

Version 2.1, dated 26 September 2026.

Please read this before you buy precious metals through EONA. It explains, in plain language, the main risks. It forms part of our General Terms and Conditions. It does not list every possible risk.

EONA is operated by Bullion Link Trading – FZCO, Trade Licence No. 53684, issued by the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ).

1. The price can fall

The price of gold and silver changes all the time and can fall sharply, including over long periods. You may get back less than you paid. Past prices are no guide to future prices. Nobody, including EONA, can promise what the price will do.

Because our buy price is higher than our sell price (the spread), and because we charge commission and storage fees, the market price must rise before you can sell for more than you paid. If you buy and sell soon after, you will normally get back less than you paid.

2. This is not a deposit or a financial product

When you buy through EONA, you buy physical metal. You do not open a deposit or savings account, and you do not buy a security, a fund or any other financial product.

  • No interest or return is paid.
  • Your metal and any money we hold for you are not protected by any government deposit-protection or compensation scheme.
  • EONA is not licensed by the Capital Market Authority or the Central Bank of the UAE.

3. No advice

EONA is an execution-only service. We do not give investment, financial, tax or legal advice, and we do not tell you whether buying precious metals is right for you. Prices, charts, news and educational content on the platform are general information only. You decide whether, when and how much to buy or sell. If you are unsure, consult an independent adviser.

4. You can sell only to EONA

The only way to realise the value of your metal through EONA is to sell it back to us at our sell price shown on the platform. You cannot sell or transfer it to another person through EONA, and we do not offer physical delivery. This means:

  • the price you get depends on our sell price at the time you sell;
  • if our platform is unavailable, or if trading is suspended because of market disruption or a compliance review, you may not be able to sell when you want to;
  • if EONA stops operating, there may be delays and costs before you can realise the value of your metal.

5. Co-ownership shares

If you buy less than a whole bar, you hold a recorded share of an identified bar together with other EONA clients. Your share is recorded in grams of a specific bar, not the whole bar. You cannot ask for your share to be separated from the bar or delivered to you. You realise its value by selling it back to us.

6. Custody and operational risks

  • Vault operator. Your metal is stored by an independent vault operator, Loomis, in Dubai. You have no direct contract with Loomis. You rely on EONA to hold and enforce the storage contract.
  • Insurance. The vault operator, Loomis, maintains insurance under its own policy. We do not promise that the policy covers you or your metal directly or in full.
  • Records. Your holdings are shown in our records. We carry out a daily automated reconciliation with the vault operator's records, but errors or delays in records are possible.
  • Insolvency. Your metal is recorded to you and held separately from EONA's own metal. Even so, if EONA or the vault operator became insolvent, the outcome would depend on the law that applies, and recovering your metal or its value could take time and involve costs.
  • Systems. The platform may be unavailable for maintenance, technical faults, cyberattacks or events outside our control. Orders and payments may be delayed.

7. Money you send us

Money you send us is held as advance payment for metal in a client-money account at a UAE bank, separate from EONA's own money. It earns no interest and is not protected by any government scheme. If that bank failed, you could lose some or all of it. Money not used for a purchase within 30 days is refunded to your bank account.

8. Compliance checks

UAE anti-money-laundering and sanctions law requires us to check clients and transactions. Payments, orders, sales and refunds may be delayed, held or refused while we carry out checks, and we may not always be able to tell you why. During that time the price of metal may move.

9. Currency risk

Metal prices are set in US dollars. The AED is pegged to the US dollar, but if your own currency is not AED or USD, changes in exchange rates can reduce the value of your metal in your currency.

10. Law and tax

Laws, regulations and tax rules, in the UAE or in your country, may change and may affect your ability to buy, hold or sell precious metals, or the tax you pay. You are responsible for any tax that applies to you in your country of residence.

11. Before you buy

Only buy precious metals with money you can afford to set aside. Make sure you understand the spread, the commission and the storage fee on our Fees and Spread page, and read our General Terms and Conditions.
