Guide to Silver

Secure Ownership

Allocated silver means your holding is recorded against specific physical bars. This article explains how ownership works with EONA — and what it does and doesn’t protect you from.

Precious metals have long served as a store of value. But not all ways of holding silver offer the same clarity.
Exchange-traded products, pooled accounts or unallocated storage can leave buyers relying on a provider’s promise. Allocated silver means your holding is recorded against specific physical bars.

Allocated vs. Unallocated: Know the Difference

Allocated silver means your holding is recorded against specific bars (or a recorded share of them), rather than pooled with a provider’s general stock.
Unallocated silver is essentially a claim on a provider. You’re a creditor, not the owner of specific metal. If the provider fails, your claim may be at risk.

EONA offers allocated silver only — recorded against specific bars and separately from EONA’s own assets.

Clear Ownership Records

Secure ownership is about clear records as well as location.
When you buy silver with EONA, your holding is recorded against specific bar serial numbers, separately from EONA’s own assets, and EONA does not lend or pledge your metal. The precise legal position in any insolvency depends on our Terms and applicable law.

Independent Vault Storage

Your silver is stored with Loomis, an independent vault operator, in Dubai. Zurich and Singapore are planned locations (coming soon) and are not currently available.
That means:

  • Your metal is held outside EONA’s premises
  • Loomis maintains insurance under its own policy (EONA does not promise it covers you directly or in full)
  • Vault stock is subject to independent checks

Storage costs 1.00% per year for silver, plus 5% VAT.

Transparency and Verification

Each transaction is recorded, and you can see your silver holding and the bars it is recorded against in your account.
We aim to provide evidence, not just assurances.

Ask our team about any additional verification documents available.

Your Metal, On Your Terms

Whatever your reason for holding silver, clear ownership records mean you know what you own.
Allocation protects the custody of your metal; it does not protect you from falls in the silver price.

Common questions

  • Your holding is recorded against specific bar serial numbers, which you can see in your account, and vault stock is subject to independent checks.
