Guide to Gold

Buying Gold from 1g

With EONA you can buy allocated gold from 1 gram. This article explains how small holdings work and what to consider.

Why Start Small?

Buying gold isn’t only for institutions or wealthy individuals. With EONA, you can buy from 1 gram of gold, recorded against specific allocated bars and visible in your account. Small amounts suit people who want to buy gradually over time.

How a 1g Holding Works

One gram is 0.03215 troy ounces. With EONA, smaller holdings are recorded as a share of specific investment-grade bars (minimum 999.9 fineness), each identified by serial number. Your holding is recorded in the same way as a larger one.

EONA’s bars come from Emirates Minting Factory, an RJC-certified UAE refinery, approved under EONA’s supply-chain due diligence policy, and are stored with Loomis in Dubai.

Points to Consider

1. Low Starting Amount
A small starting amount lets you buy gradually over time. Buying in regular amounts does not remove the risk that the gold price falls.

2. Selling Part of Your Holding
You can sell part of your holding back to EONA without selling everything. Sales are priced on the international spot price minus a discount, with a 1.00% commission plus 5% VAT.

3. Costs
The same pricing method and commission apply to small and large purchases alike (see our Fees & Spread page). On very small amounts, it is worth checking the total cost before you confirm.

Who Buys Small Amounts?

  • Newcomers: Learn how allocated gold works with a small amount
  • Gradual Buyers: Buy small amounts over time rather than all at once
  • Recurring Purchase Users: Where available, set a Recurring purchase you can pause or cancel at any time, with each purchase at the prevailing price
  • Budget-Conscious Buyers: Buy only what fits their budget

At EONA, you can view your holdings and bar allocations at any time. EONA sells on an execution-only basis and does not give investment advice; the value of gold can fall.

Common questions

  • The same pricing method and 1.00% commission plus 5% VAT apply to every purchase and sale, so check the total cost before you confirm. Storage fees also apply (0.50% per year for gold, plus 5% VAT).
